Sire De Grugy looks set to sparkle in the Schloer Chase on the final day of the Cheltenham Open Meeting

An impressive winner first time out this season Gary Moore’s Sire De Grugy has been mentioned as the only possible credible challenger to the mighty Sprinter Sacre this season. If he is to come close to pushing Sprinter Sacre off the bridle he will have to make light work of his opposition today in the two mile contest. In what seems to be a weak affair the only possible threat to a second victory this season would seem to come from the Irish raider Special TiaraSpecial Tiara beat him back in the spring at Aintree and looks good each way value for the race today.

The Greatwood Hurdle is a cracking renewal where whispers surround the chances of many of the field. Court Minstrel ran a bit flat at Ascot and should show better today. The Festival winner Flaxen Flare has strong claims if repeating the form shown in March and since. However, the most interesting runner is Kashmir Peak who looks well in on his best form. Quinn’s other runner Calculated risk should not be overlooked either.

Crockford’s Dead Cert – Sire De Grugy (Cheltenham 2.40)

Progressive last year and impressive when winning at Chepstow, Gary Moore’s horse looks to have grown into a real competitor over two miles. Connections have high hopes for this Dead Cert.

Crockford’s Whisper – Kashmir Peak e/w (Cheltenham 3.15)

John Quinn’s horse will be the choice of many punters for this competitive hurdle. Last season this horse notched up a couple of eye-catching wins over hurdles, but more importantly he seemed to be in the form of is life on the flat when almost beating the highly regarded Thomas Hobson at Doncaster.
