Derby winner Ruler Of The World’s L’Arc De Triomphe credentials will be on trial in the Qatar Prix Niel at Longchamp tomorrow
Aidan O’Brien’s Epsom victor will be on trial in the Group Two Prix Niel tomorrow. Impressive when taking the Derby in June Ruler Of The World could not follow up in the Irish equivalent just weeks later. If the colt has a chance of winning L’Arc next month he will have to bounce back from his last defeat and prove his potential against a tough field.
His strongest test in the Prix Niel will be set by the highly regarded Flintshire, who was an eye-catching winner of the Grand Prix de Paris. The Fabre trained colt is currently as short as 4/1 for the great race in October, which may well look short tomorrow compared with Ruler Of The World’s 25/1 odds for L’Arc.
The Ballydoyle team are also set to run the classy Venus De Milo in the fillies and mares trial – Qatar Prix Vermeille. The filly will face stiff opposition in the form the unbeaten Treve. Treve looked very special in her dominate win of the French Oaks earning a 6/1 quote for L’Arc. Another win tomorrow may see her odds reduce further.
Seventh last year in the L’Arc, Camelot will look to regain his form of last season in the Prix Foy ,where he faces Orfevre last year’s Arc second. Camelot will have to show that the old talent remains to stand a chance of another tilt at the race next month.
