Rite Of Passage looks certain to produce another golden Ascot performance in the Gold Cup for master trainer Dermot Weld

The 20/1 2010 Gold Cup winner lines up with a real chance of securing a second victory in the great race. The shrewd master of Rosewell pulled off a training coup last season when producing Rite Of Passage to win on QIPCO Champions Day. With the Gold Cup not looking deep with talent, another golden training performance seems on the cards. In the way of Rite Of Passage is the popular royal horse Estimate who is many punters idea of the winner. Crockford believes that the 2012 winner Colour Vision and the double winning Royal Ascot horse Simenon are the main barriers in the way of a Weld victory. The quality French performer Last Train is also a danger. This may not be Galway but Dermot Weld does have a talent for producing winner at Ascot be warned.

Hannon and Hughes may have had a frustrating Royal Ascot so far but seem poised for a better afternoon with WentworthWentworth has always been highly regarded and heads up a strong Hannon team in the Britannia Stakes that includes the globe-trotting Law Enforcement and Royal runner Sea Shanty. Richard Hannon has outstanding place claims with Legend Rising in the Norfolk Stakes, the first race of the afternoon. Van Der Neer may have been disappointing in the Irish Guineas but  the colt should put that poor performance behind him when he runs in the Tercentenary. The German horse Chopin will be his main rival.

Another Irish winner is probable with Alive Alive Oh in the Ribblesdale who will have to defeat the progressive Oaks third The Lark. In the last of the day (King George V) Her Majesty The Queen could be celebrating a winner with Bold Sniper. Sir Michael Stoute’s horse will have to get the better of the consistent low weighted Number One London and all weather winner Another Cocktail to land the prize.

Crockford’s Dead Cert – Wentworth (Britannia 4.25)

Given a brilliant ride by Hughes at York last season. The yard has always held him in very high regard. Freshened up by a run at Goodwood   in which he was unlucky Wentworth will be very hard to beat.
