Racegoers at Royal Ascot can expect a regal performance from Camelot in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes

Guineas and double Derby winning Camelot will take revenge on Al Kazeem in the feature race on day two of Royal Ascot 2013. Al Kazeem stormed past Camelot at the Curragh but the tables will be turned when they meet again in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. Connections are confident that Camelot will come on from his  last run and will strip fitter in the rematch. Quoted at 11/4 Aidan O’Brien’s hero is oustanding valueAl Kazeem will again be strong opposition but a greater threat will come from the French trained Maxios and the talented filly The Fugue. Crockford is certain that Aidan O’Brien will be rewarded for keeping this colt in training with a regal performance that will show he is still the prince of the turf.

The Jersey Stakes is a competitive affair where the highly regarded Garswood can prove his worth. An impressive winner of the Free Handicap at Newmarket connections are hopeful of a strong showing at Ascot. The challenge to the colt will come from the unbeaten French trained Mutin.

Lady Cecil came close to winning the Ascot Stakes on the first day and will go one better with her filly Chigun in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes.

George Margarson claimed the Victoria Cup with Excellent Guest back last month and will hope to win again at the course in the Royal Hunt Cup. With Johnny Murtagh having the perfect start to the meeting with two winning rides he now has real claims of taking the race as a trainer with the top weight Sweet Lighting. The Irish Lincolnshire winner could provide the rookie trainer with his first Royal Ascot training success and biggest prize to date. Punters would have noticed how Mark Johnston’s Es Que Love shaped well at Musselburgh at the weekend and the interesting booking of Joseph O’Brien on Fury for William Haggas.

Ventura Mist was a good winner of the Hillary Needler Trophy last time out and is set to run well in the Queen Mary. The quick reappearance of Bye Bye Birdie after her battling victory  at Cork on Sunday is also noteworthy given the connections and the form of the O’Brien stable. The highly regarded Nargys gives Luca Cumani a live chance of taking the last race on the card on day two in the Sandringham.

Crockford’s Dead Cert – Camelot (Prince of Wales 3.45)

Dual Derby winner  and last year’s Guineas hero has been aimed at this race. Al Kazeem is a good horse but is flattered by his victory in the Ireland. Punters will be amazed at the odds  that were available on this certainty come 4pm.

Crockford’s Whisper – Excellent Guest e/w (Royal Hunt Cup 4.25)

Winner of the Victoria Cup and second in the race at last year’s meeting. The whisper is that he will make a big showing again in the Cup. At double figure prices Margarson’s horse is worthy of at least an each way investment.
