2012 Champion Hurdler Rock On Ruby to prove he is still an Elite hurdler at Wincanton in the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle

After a season over the larger obstacles, Harry Fry’s former Champion Hurdle will take on rivals in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton. His main opposition will come from the last season novice Irving who is likely to start favourite for the two mile contest. The in-form Hint Of Mint and dual purpose Forgotten Voice are likely to fight for third place behind the fancies. If freshened up by his return to hurdles expect Rock On Ruby to be hard to beat.

The Betfred November Handicap will see the curtain go down on the 2014 turf flat season. The unlucky St Leger non-runner Odeon may just be the horse to take the last big handicap.

CROCKFORD’S DEAD CERT – BARRAKILLA (SANDOWN 2.30)

Highly regarded by connections, don’t be surprised if he is Festival bound later this season. This race looks well within his grasp  after good efforts as a novice last season, which included a head third behind Holywell and a notable win at Warwick.

CROCKFORD’S WHISPER – ODEON E/W (DONCASTER 3.35)

Good enough to have an entry in the St Leger back in September, before not being able to take part in the final Classic. Third in the Group Two Great Voltigeur and in this valuable handicap on a good weight, expect a bold show at around 20/1.

ARCHER’S SELECTION – FINE ARTICLE (NAAS 2.45)

Archer would have noticed his excellent fourth in the Punchestown Champion Bumper. Now on his debut over hurdles the Champion would have been up on this main chance.
