Trainer Aidan O’Brien will hope for success with Wonderfully and Giovanni Boldini in the French 1000 and 2000 Guineas later this afternoon

After disappointment at Newmarket in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas O’Brien will hope to get things back on track with his classic hopefuls Wonderfully and Giovanni Boldini.

Wonderfully will make her seasonal debut in the Poule D’ Essai Des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Longchamp. After what was a mixed season for her in 2013 she will start as 33/1 outsider. With Ryan Moore booked connections will hope for her to regain some of her early promise shown in Ireland.

The globe-trotting Giovanni Boldini appears to hold much stronger claims in the Poule D’Essai Des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) after finishing a respectable fourth in the UAE Derby back in March. The 9/1 shot will have to get the better of the highly regarded favourite Krakanotie and a host of interesting British runners that include the unbeaten Gosden colt Muwaary.

It looks like the Ballydoyle stable may have to wait a little longer before for their first classic success this season.
