At Fishers Cross will have his World Hurdle credentials tested in Ascot’s Long Walk Hurdle
Rebecca Curtis’s stable star At Fishers Cross will have his World Hurdle credentials tested in the Long Walk Hurdle (2.25) at Ascot. Disappointing on his seasonal debut he will have to improve to ensure victory against Reve De Sivola and Time For Rupert. Time For Rupert comes to the race after almost a seasons break and a long time away from the smaller obstacles. If he can recapture form anywhere near that which saw him chase Big Bucks home a few years ago at Cheltenham he will be hard to beat. With Big Bucks getting closer to a return himself the Curtis camp will hope for a big run from their hurdler.
Earlier on the Ascot card, the useful Albert Bartlett fourth O’Faolain’s Boy will make his first appearance over fences. The stable has high hopes for him and a win here would certainly put him in punters notebooks for Cheltenham Festival 2014.
The Ladbroke is a competitive a renewal as punters could hope for. Dell’Arca impressed with his victory in the Greatwood and looks well placed to add another big prize to his haul. The Henderson pair are worthy of respect (Rolling Star and Chatterbox) with there also being a whisper for Willow’s Saviour.
Crockford’s Dead Cert – As I Am (Haydock 1.00)
Trainer Don Cantillon landed a big prize with this mare at Newbury and looks well placed to do so again. With the stable in good form it would be hard to oppose this Dead Cert.
Crockford’s Whisper – Dell’Arca e/w (The Ladbroke Hurdle 3.35)
Winner of the Greatwood Hurdle on his first run for the stable, he even earned some quotes for the Champion Hurdle. On that form he looks almost certain to make a bold show again.
Archer’s Selection – O’Faolain’s Boy (Ascot 1.15)
Archer would have noted the potential of this recruit to fences and would have certainly wanted to be up on this stable star.
Crockford’s Gambles around the courses:
