Dual Group One winning sprinter Lethal Force will be deadly in the Betfred Sprint at Haydock this afternoon
With track records under his belt his season the top UK sprinter looks to have the Group One six-furlong sprint at his mercy. Last time out Clive Cox’s grey finished second behind the classy Moonlight Cloud who broke the track record in France that day. This afternoon there is nothing of that quality for him to defeat. The strongest challenge to his deadly pace will come from Hogan’s Gordon Lord Byron, following the defection of the likely challengers Reckless Abandon and Society Rock this week.
The Old Borough Cup will see the much awaited seasonal debut of Pallasator. Sir Mark Prescott’s horse was fancied for the Ebor but missed the York feature due to the ground. With the conditions being right this afternoon and the big gelding looking to have bags of potential it would be foolish to back against him.
Crockford’s Dead Cert – Montiridge (Haydock 2.40)
Considered to have Group One potential by connections. This colt won with some ease under Hughes at Glorious Goodwood and should have no trouble in adding this Group Three prize to his tally for the season.
Crockford’s Whisper – Loving Spirit e/w (Kempton 2.55)
Toller’s horse has been banging on the door this season and talk is that he has a big race in him. With the useful claimer Robert Tart booked and claiming five this may well be the race.
Archer’s Selection – Lethal Force (Haydock 3.50)
Archer would have not missed the form that Cox’s sprinter has been in this season. The impressive win Royal Ascot followed by his success in the July Cup at HQ would have made it certain that Archer would be up.
Crockford’s gambles around the courses:
Haydock – Montiridge (2.40), Pallasator (3.15), Lethal Force (3.50) and Chief Barker (5.00)
Ascot – Field Of Dream e/w (1.55), Pether’s Moon e/w (3.30) and Steventon Star (4.05)
Kempton – Masterstroke and Tac De Boistron e/w (2.20), Loving Spirit e/w and Mister Music e/w (2.55) and Hot Streak (4.10)
Thirsk – Hamoody (2.00), Jadesnumberone (4.55) and Storm Moon (5.55)
Stratford – Sandanski (2.45) and First Avenue (3.55)
