Local West Sussex Trainer William Knight’s yard is on fire as Glorious Goodwood approaches

The Patching based trainer William Knight will start Glorious Goodwood with his stable in fantastic form. Knight who has seen success at the meeting in previous seasons will come to the Sussex Downs on the back of a big race win on Sunday. Fire Ship his four-year-old gelding landed the listed Pomfret Stakes at Pontefract by two and a quarter lengths and may now seek a further victory on Friday in the BetFred Mile  at Goodwood. Key to his success has been the recent rain and with the forecast for showers for Sussex in the week ahead he is likely to take up his place in the valuable handicap. Currently, priced at 14/1 for he looks good value given the style of his last victory.

On Tuesday, Knight runs the 2012 Glorious Goodwood winner Aussie Reigns in the (4.50) mile handicap. The course winner goes to the meeting in good form and holds an excellent chance of claiming another Glorious Goodwood prize.

Later in the week Knight will give probable debuts to four nice two-year-olds – All Yours, Tiptree Lace, Beach Bar and Allergic Reaction. The fillies All Yours and Tiptree lace have been working well at home and stand good chances in the seven furlong maiden stakes on Thursday. On Saturday the colts Beach Bar and Allergic Reaction run in the maiden race and will give good accounts of themselves too according to the stable.

Knight’s Goodwood Mirage holds entries in two handicaps at the meeting and will look to provide a Festival winner for the Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group. Having won twice already this three-year-old could easily make it a hat-trick for connections.

On the final day of the week the trainer has two possible runners in the big handicap – The Stewards Cup. With his two horses Signor Sassi and Nassau Storm unlikely to make it into the final cut for Saturday’s race they may appear in another contest that day.

With such a strong team entries and the stable in the form it is, expect another good meeting for the Sussex based trainer. Knight’s strongest chance of a Glorious Goodwood success is likely to be with Goodwood Mirage.
