Many people’s idea of a Festival banker is the ever reliable mare Quevega for Willie Mullins (on the first day in the David Nicholson). She will play part of a whole host of win Lucky 15s with other popular quoted bankers such as Hurricane Fly, Sizing Europe, Big Bucks and Sprinter Sacre.
But at 1/2 is she really that much of a dead cert? With what may appear to be heresy – we must ask what has she beaten at the Festival when she has looked so impressive? Unaccompanied is a class act having already beaten quality opposition over Christmas in the Festival Hurdle (29th Dec) including Thousand Stars and Oscars Well who hold Champion Hurdle entries. Given, they beat her at the rematch at the end of January when Hurricane Fly impressed but the 11/2 (available with Hills) must be a certainty in each way terms alone.
