In what could be the race of the season the champions are set to clash in the Irish Champion Stakes
Ground permitting racing-fans are due to be treated to what could be the race of the season if not the decade. The two Champion three-year-olds Gleneagles and Golden Horn will lock horns conditions permitting in the Leopardstown Group One. The Guineas and Derby winners have set this season alight, and if the rain doesn’t spoil the party could fight out the finish.
In the way of a three-year-old triumph is the highly regarded and well prepared Free Eagle, who was impressive on his return at Ascot. Weld has always highly regarded his colt and nurtured him well. With the ground softening and the planning in place he could snatch this prize from his younger rivals. Also overlooked by the markets is Cirrus Des Aigles who will relish the conditions and on his day can beat anyone.
This race may go down in the memory for years.
