John Gosden’s Pretty Polly winner Taghrooda to fulfil her potential in a competitive Investec Oaks

Trainer John Gosden’s runaway winner of the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket looks certain to relish the extra distance of the Investec Oaks. With such a big reputation before her win last month punters could not be anything but impressed by the way she pulled away from her rivals on the Rowley Mile.

The undulations of the Epsom Downs and the large field with provide  her with a different and tougher test, but Gosden’s filly should up to the challenge. In her way of victory is the unbeaten Madame Chiang and the classy 1000 Guineas third Ihtimal.  Madame Chiang will be partnered by the talented Buick and Ihtimal by Fallon.

Dermot Weld has a real contender in Tarfasha too, who started her winning ways at her trainer’s favoured Galway Festival last summer. However, punters can’t be certain that she has the class to take this prize. Her trainer believes her to have decent each way chances.

The Irish Guineas winner Marvellous is Ballydoyle’s strongest chance but may not have the ability at this distance to defeat her fellow favourite Taghrooda.
