French super-mare Moonlight Cloud to eclipse Richard Hannon’s Sky Lantern in the Hong Kong Mile
On what will be her final career run Moonlight Cloud will look overshadow the plans for Richard Hannon Snr’s last hurrah with Sky Lantern. With father set to hand the reigns over to son in the next few weeks, many punters will hope for the talented grey filly Sky Lantern to provide connections with a fitting end to a brilliant training career. There is no doubt that Hannon’s filly has shown her class this season but everything looks right for the French miler to go out on a high. Showing an amazing turn of foot to win her last four races Moonlight Cloud has valid claims to be the champion miler and looks to have this race at her mercy.
John Gosden’s filly The Fugue was caught on the line at Breeders Cup but should have too much speed for her rivals in the Hong Kong Vase. Globe-trotters Dunaden, Red Cadeaux and Simenon are certain to give bold shows against the filly who will outshine them in the end.
In the Hong Kong Sprint, Johnny Murtagh partners Sole Power and looks well placed to finish a memorable year with another notable victory. In his way will be last year’s winner, the Japanese trained Lord Kanaloa who comes to the race in excellent form.
The feature of the card, the Hong Kong Cup sees Cirrus Des Aigles take on European rivals Grandeur and Side Glance with the highly regarded ex-Irish trained Akeed Mofeed looking the real danger.
