Richard Hannon’s Olympic Glory and Montiridge will be locked in battle in the Group One Lockinge at Newbury this afternoon

Richard Hannon will hope to continue to brilliant start to the new season by taking the Group One Lockinge. The trainer will send his useful pair (Olympic Glory and Montiridge) into battle with the former Grade One US star Verrazano.

Olympic Glory was an impressive winner of the QEII on Champions Day last autumn where the ground was testing, but now back on a sound surface his limitations may be exposed to his fit stablemate Montiridge.  There is also the unknown quantity that is Verrazano, who could be anything on grass under the guidance of Ballydoyle. The race will make compelling viewing even if it is not the strongest renewal on paper.

With the Scoop Six continuing to roll on, punters should expect a winner of the massive prize this week. It is likely the final leg will go the way of Lord Aeryn at Thirsk (4.00).
