Golden L’Arc De Triomphe to be historic clash between super mare Treve and John Gosden’s Derby winner Golden Horn

This afternoon’s mouth-watering renewal of the race will see the super-mare Treve attempt to win a historic third L’Arc De Triomphe. In her way will be the classy classic generation New Bay and Derby winning Golden Horn.

The mare looked in ominous form when winning at Longchamp last month and seemed to be better than ever. Connections claim that she is back to the form that saw her take the 2013 race in breathtaking style and for that reason she is a worthy favourite. Earlier on that Longchamp card last month the three-year-old Fabre colt New Bay demolished a good field to be put right in the mix.

However, Treve will have the most to fear from the Derby winning Golden Horn who will relish the ground and the trip. John Gosden’s colt was a sublime victor at Epsom, who followed that victory up with good wins at Sandown and Leopardstown. Golden Horn is certainly special and may have the chance to prove it in a race that will play to his strengths.

At longer prices Dermot Weld’s Free Eagle cannot be overlooked, unlucky in running behind Golden Horn at Leopardstown he is certainly great value at big double figure prices along with Flintshire and Tapestry.

Crockford’s L’Arc De Triomphe 2015 Prediction:

1 Golden Horn

2 Treve

3 Free Eagle

Golden Horn to glitter in the Paris sunshine to show that he is a true champion and one of the best John Gosden has ever trained.
