The connections of Brown Panther will estimate their chances of  successfully defending the Goodwood Cup when they walk the course later

Brown Panther’s participation in his second Goodwood Cup looks dependent on the views of his trainer Dascombe after he has walked the course and heard back from the jockeys after the first. With the ground drying over the last few weeks the course is somewhere near good to firm.  If Brown Panther gets the nod then he looks certain to fiercely defend his crown in the face of Royal opposition from the Queen’s 2013 Ascot Gold Cup winner Estimate.

If Brown Panther does not take part Estimate will not have everything her own way with the classy Cavalryman looking to be the main danger to a Royal win.

Crockford’s followers yesterday benefitted from a 14/1 winner of the big race over at Galway. Road To Riches landed the Galway Plate beating off his rivals that included a strong JP McManus team. Today the Galway Hurdle is a competitive affair that may fall the way of Gordon Elliott’s Bayan or perhaps to Dermot Weld with his once useful Hisaabaat.  Entering day four of the meeting Weld stands on five winners already.

CROCKFORD’S DEAD CERT – BROWN PANTHER (GOODWOOD CUP 3.10)

If he gets his chance once his trainer has walked the course, Brown Panther looks set to pounce on his rivals after two good wins and two encouraging runs so far this season. The emphatic winner of this in 2013 he should prove to good for his opponents again.

CRCOKFORD’S WHISPER – KODIVA E/W (4.20)

Highly regarded by the yard this filly holds a Group One entry. The stable have already landed a two year-old prize this week and this does not look at face-value the deepest of contests for her debut. Expect a good show from the filly.
