French trainer Andre Fabre’s fabulous trio Esoterique, Miss France and Fintry to outshine Sky Lantern in the Group One Sun Chariot
Andre Fabre sends three of his fabulous best over to HQ this afternoon in the hope of claiming the valuable Group One Sun Chariot Stakes. The Guineas winner Miss France, the Prix Rothschild victor Esoterique and the recent Sandown winner Fintry help make this one of the strongest renewals in years. To be successful the French fillies will have to beat last year’s winner.
Sky Lantern took the race in impressive style twelve months ago but has not been the same filly since. Talk is that she may be back to somewhere near the form that saw her claim the Guineas and Sun Chariot last season. However, even if she is Sky Lantern may still not match up to Esoterique. The Fabre filly was a close fourth to Charm Spirit, Toronado and Night Of Thunder at Longchamp which may be the top form at mile with the recent retirement of Kingman.
Over in France on the eve of the L’Arc de Triomphe, the imperious Cirrus Des Aigles looks certain of winning another Prix Dollar on the way to the Champion Stakes. At Gowran Park the mighty veteran Sizing Europe will hope to defy his age by taking another Champion Chase.
CROCKFORD’S DEAD CERT – RECKLESS ABANDON (ASCOT 3.15)
Top class and unbeaten as a two-year-old, Reckless Abandon took the Norfolk Stakes at the 2012 Royal meeting in eye-catching style. Thereabouts in Group One sprints last season, he has been placed twice in listed contests this. Expect this speedster to be back to his best this afternoon.
CROCKFORD’S WHISPER – DUNGANNON E/W (ASCOT 5.00)
This course and distance winner showed excellent form this time last season and appears to be back in good salts. With the talented Oisin Murphy booked expect the Balding horse to go close again at each way prices.
ARCHER’S SELECTION – ESOTERIQUE (NEWMARKET 3.30)
Archer would have noted that this filly has had the beating of many of her rivals and ran her male adversaries close in the Moulin last time. With this form he certainly would have taken the ride.
