European juveniles will look to Outstrip their US rivals in the Breeders Cup Turf races at Santa Anita

The European travellers to Santa Anita will look to Outstrip their American rivals on the first day of the Breeders Cup 2014 tomorrow.

Godolphin’s grey Outstrip is well placed to get back to winning ways in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf. Third last time out  in the Dewhurst at Newmarket behind War Command, his main opposition may come from a fellow traveller – Giovani Boldoni.

The O’Brien horse was an impressive winner at Dundalk and looks to have more solid claims than his stablemate Wilshire Boulevard. Richard Hughes will partner Shamshon in the race, who will have to bounce back from his disappointing last run if he is to figure.

Marco Botti’s Al Thakhira, Charlie Hills’s Chriselliam and the French trained Vorda will take on the US fillies in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Al Thakhira looks to be special on the basis of her last victory. If she can produce similiar again she will be hard to beat with Vorda being the main danger.

In the Breeders Cup Marathon, Jo Hughes’s London Bridge will cross the Atlantic for a tilt at glory. The three-year-old will find it tough but must just provide a surprise.
