John Gosden’s Elusive Kate looks a banker in the Group One Prix Rothschild at Deauville this afternoon

The four-year-old filly was victorious last year in the mile contest and will start favourite today. A winner controversially last time of the Falmouth Stakes at the Newmarket July Meeting, she will be a warm order with many punters at around 11/4. Connections however do fear a change in the ground conditions and with that uncertainty in the air the consistent Duntle and classy Giofra enter the frame.  Duntle was a battling victor at Royal Ascot and is bound to make a bold show again today for David Wachman and Wayne Lordan. Giofra beat Elusive Kate in the Falmouth last year and could pose a significant threat to her when they meet in the Prix Rothschild. Beyond the top three in the market  it would be unwise to overlook the French trained hopefuls Kenhope and Peaceburg. The highly regarded three-year-old Hannon filly – Maureen has place claims and looks attractive to backers at around 16/1.

If the Gosden filly gets her ground than she must be a banker in the Group One race.
