Trainer David Pipe will go for Silver with Legacy Gold in Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle at Kempton this afternoon

Following a good week for David Pipe and Pond House at the Festival, the team will now take aim at Saturday’s big race prizes with two Brookhouse owned horses – Legcacy Gold and Goulanes.

Legacy Gold had been spoken of as a horse with Festival chances but was waited with for a tilt at the valuable Silver Plate at Kempton this afternoon instead. The main danger may well come from the stablemate Prideofthecastle who is quoted at big odds for the contest. Last Saturday Baltimore Rock landed the big prize at Sandown expect Legacy Gold for the same connections to do so this weekend.

Goulanes was disappointing in the Welsh Grand National on desperate ground, which would probably would not have suited him. Back on better conditions the classy last season novice is certain to make a bolder show. The threats to another Pipe winner will come from the rejuvenated Wyck Hill, Alan King’s West End Rocker and Willie Mullins’ raider Are Ya Right ChiefHarry Topper is the class horse in the race but may not compete due to conditions.

Crockford advises any punters with Grand National 2014 fancies in the Midlands Grand National this afternoon to place their bets before the off as the outcome is likely to influence the big race market.

Current  Grand National 2014 Ante Post shows have Wyck Hill 25/1, Goulanes 66/1, Junior 66/1 and Pete The Feat 66/1

With Rebecca Curtis, David Pipe, Phillip Hobbs and Alan King all in-form it will certainly be worth following their charges this afternoon.

Crockford’s Dead Cert – Legacy Gold (Kempton 2.55)

Entered up in a number of the big Cheltenham prizes last week, this horse was strongly fancied in advance of the Festival. Pipe’s choice to go to the Silver Plate at Kempton alongside the confidence behind this in the yard suggests that this hurdler has to be a Dead Cert.

Crockford’s Whisper – Hollow Tree e/w (Newcastle 4.00)

Five times victorious in 2011, this Grade One winning horse has dropped and dropped in company. In a race now on good ground against weak opposition expect the large odds available on him to look good value by later this afternoon.

Archer’s Selection – Romford Pele (Kempton 3.30)

Archer would have noticed the form that the Curtis yard is in and the ability that this horse has. In on a good weight for the Silver Bowl this would have been Archer’s selection.
