Crockford’s Dead Cert Winning Express looks well placed to get back to winning ways at Newmarket this afternoon
Punters will have plenty of quality action to savour this afternoon at HQ, Ascot and Redcar while they wait for the Arc tomorrow. Amongst a host of Group races and valuable handicaps around the country, the chances of the grey filly Winning Express stand out in the Boadicea Stakes at HQ (4.45). Back down in distance, the trip and the course should suit this filly who was fourth in the 1000 Guineas back in the spring. Both of the big sales races look interesting affairs where Wedding Ring and Toofi should continue their successful runs.
Ascription swerved his engagement in the Cambridgeshire last week but runs at Ascot in the Challenge Cup (3.50) today. Notable support has come for the horse on the back of his facile win last time out; everyone connected expects a bold show.
With the flat season coming to a close, the jumps season leaps to life with the re-appearance of the former champion chaser Sizing Europe who takes on talented opponents at Gowran Park this afternoon.
Crcokford’s Dead Cert – Winning Express (Newmarket 4.45)
Showed excellent form last season and the beginning of this campaign. Creditable effort last time out and now back down in trip at a course that suits. This Dead Cert is a Winning Express.
Crockford’s Whisper – Aqlaam Vision e/w (Newmarket 1.50)
Word is that this horse will relish the additional furlong this afternoon and will run well for the shrewd Clive Brittian. Expect a big run from this juvenile at excellent each way odds of around 14/1.
Archer’s Selection – Caspar Netscher (Redcar 2.50)
Archer would have noticed how this horse was revitalised on his return to the track for new connections this season. Narrowly beaten at Glorious Goodwood and running with credit since, Archer would have wanted the ride in this weaker contest.
