Crockford selects The Bear Trap as his Dead Cert and Hitchens as each way Whisper for this afternoon’s action

In the lull between the Grand National and the start of the Classic trials this week at Newmarket, Doncaster and Kempton provide the action for punters to consider on the flat. The Doncaster Mile sees the reappearance of the one-time Classic hopeful Chandlery who was 2000 Guineas bound before being set back by injury. The Hannon horse will probably need his race today and faces the highly fancied Highland Knight for Andrew Balding. The competitive sprint handicap (3.30) later in the card will see if Jim Goldie’s Jack Dexter can continue his progression  after his Cammidge Trophy win. The four-year old will have strong and experienced opponents in the likes of Hitchens and Shropshire.

At Kempton Buckland will look to extend his winning run and Ger Lyons Lily’s Angel should land another big prize in the listed race.

The Bear Trap
The Bear Trap will return to winning ways

Crockford’s Dead Cert – The Bear Trap  (Stratford 2.30)

Impressive in both runs earlier in the season at Ffos Las The Bear Trap now back in novice company should have no trouble in disposing of his rivals in what looks to be a weak contest.

Crockford’s Whisper – Hitchens e/w (Doncaster 3.30)

Having been over and competing in Dubai this sprinter will have a fitness edge on some of his rivals. With the ground now in his favour this quality horse will be sure to make a big show at good each way odds of 12/1.

Archer’s Selection –  Lily’s Angel (Kempton 3.15)

Archer would have known that Ger Lyons knows how to place a horse. With this filly having won in Dubai and now back on an all weather surface, Archer would have certainly not overlooked this ride.
