Crockford’s Dead Cert Sgt Reckless will look to march to hurdling debut victory at Wincanton this afternoon
Sgt Reckless will look to turn the potential he showed in bumpers last season into a debut victory over hurdles at Wincanton. In what looks to be a quality field Channon’s six-year-old should get the better of the highly regarded Heath Hunter from David Pipe’s yard. Later on the card the useful novice hurdler Melodic Rendevous is set to take the Elite Hurdle (2.05).
The November Handicap at Doncaster will see the curtain close over the 2013 flat season. With the withdrawal of the fancied Thomas Hobson the path looks clear from the talented Aiken to make a bold show.
Crockford’s Dead Cert – Sgt Reckless (Wincanton 12.20)
Connections have sometimes described this talented bumper as a “monster”, with hurdling now his mission he will put the disappointment of his Festival runs behind him and jump off to a winning start over the sticks.
Crockford’s Whisper – Aiken e/w (Doncaster 3.35)
The class act in the November Handicap field. Gosden’s stayer has the ability to carry his top weight. Priced at 16/1 if this whisper comes anywhere close to recapturing his form he will be a massive price.
Archer’s Selection – Melodic Rendevous (Wincanton 2.05)
Archer would have noticed this progressive sort and the natural ability he showed last season. Cotton Mill if back to his best may run him close but should not get the better of Archer’s selection.
