Clive Cox’s double Group One winning sprinter Lethal Force will take on Moonlight Cloud in the Prix Maurice De Gheest at Deauville
Cox’s dual group one winning sprinter will aim for a third group one in a row when he takes on his rivals in France this afternoon. Successful in both the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot and in the July Cup at Newmarket he will face a stiff test when he meets the super-mare Moonlight Cloud in Deauville. Moonlight Cloud has made this race her own in the last two seasons and is favourite to stop Cox’s colt from gaining the treble. If Lethal Force can get the better of the mare he is certain to enter the annals of british racing as one of the sprinting greats. Both have the Irish raider Gordon Lord Byron to fear given that the unstoppable Johnny Murtagh is in the saddle for the Prix Maurice De Gheest. Don Bosco back down in trip is also an eye-catching entry at a big price.
If Lethal Force can get out and dominate as he did in his last two runs he should repel any late charge from Moonlight Cloud and seal a famous Group One treble.
