Competitive all weather card at Lingfield boosts Saturday racing as Sandown and Wincanton are lost to the weather
With both the feature cards at Sandown and Wincanton lost to the weather punters will thank the new All Weather Championships for the competitive card at Lingfield Park. The £45,000 prize for Coral.co.uk Handicap (2.35) has attracted an interesting band of runners that includes the ex-Brazilian star Energia Eros and the useful hurdler Kashmir Peak.
Newcastle survived the weather providing the only UK turf racing today but with depleted fields.
Over in Ireland Blood Cotil will look to draw first blood in the beginners chase and the connections of the classy Waaheb will hope to beat Turban in (12.30).
Crockford’s Dead Cert – Anglo Irish (Lingfield 12.50)
John Gosden has an excellent record with runners on the all weather and this certainty will look to add to that tally again today. Beaten by less than a length on his first racecourse outing he will come on for that run and will win this weaker contest.
Crockford’s Whisper – Kashmir Peak e/w (Lingfield 2.35)
Finished an excellent second to the highly regarded Thomas Hobson at Doncaster before running slightly disappointing over hurdles in the Greatwood at Cheltenham. He will clearly be fit and has form on all weather surfaces from the past.
Archer’s Selection – Blood Cotil (Cork 2.45)
Archer would have wanted to have been up when this talented hurdler draws first blood over fences. Mullins’s horse looks set for a bright career over the larger obstacles.
Crockford’s Gambles at Lingfield, Cork and Newcastle:
Lingfield – Lil Rockerfeller (12.20), Anglo Irish (12.50), The Mongoose (1.25), Parisian Pyramid (2.00), Kashmir Peak e/w and Media Hype e/w (2.35), Perfect Pasture and Picansort e/w (3.10) and Camachoice e/w (3.45)
Cork – Waaheb (12.30), Wicklow Brave (1.00), Avondhu Lady and Special Token e/w (2.10), Blood Cotil (2.45) and Osana e/w (3.20)
