The Willie Mullin’s Cheltenham Festival hopefuls Aupcharlie and Un Atout run this afternoon at Naas
Both Aupcharlie and Un Atout are both quoted by most firms at 16/1 for Cheltenham Festival success. Aupcharlie is many punters idea of each way value in the RSA Chase at the Festival with Un Atout fancied for a big run in the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Aupcharlie who was so impressive in the Topaz Chase behind highly regarded stablemate Back In Focus will not have it all his own way today with the useful Lord Windermere opposing. Crockford is certain if he wins at Naas his price will shorten for the Festival. Un Atout’s race seems more straightforward and seems to be a staging post on the way to Prestbury Park. Mullins looks well placed across the card at Naas with the following horses providing attractive multiple wager combinations;
So You Think (1.35), Aupcharlie (2.10), Un Atout (2.45), Tennis Cap (3.20) and Super Mix (4.20)
On a weekend that has been decimated by the wintry weather, Naas and Kempton will provide the only UK and Ireland fixtures with Ascot, Haydock. Taunton and Lingfield being abandoned due to the freezing temperatures and snow.
Kempton provides a competitive card with the possibility of a double for John Gosden with Fluctuate (2.55) and Gertrude Versed (4.05) who both look to have the measure of their rivals.
Crockford’s Dead Cert – Fluctuate (2.55 Kempton)
Fluctuate placed second in the Wood Ditton Stakes at Newmarket and a winner on his only run on the all weather at Wolverhampton has the class to beat his more experienced rivals. Gosden is certain to have him right for his second race on the all weather. At 3/1 Crockford believes he is an attractive price too.
Crockford’s Whisper – Brandywell Boy e/w (4.35 Kempton)
Brandywell Boy is a course and distance winner who will have the benefit of his jockey claiming 7lbs off his back. He is only a pound higher than his last success and this is a weak looking contest. With odds of 16/1 he looks excellent each way value.
Archer’s Selection – Aupcharlie (2.10 Naas)
Archer would have been impressed with his last run and would be keen to have gained the booking on this progressive sort. The shrewd form studier would have noticed that the useful Tofino Bay finished behind him in their last race.
Crockford’s gambles at Naas and Kempton Park today:
Naas – Expanding Universe e/w (1.00), So You Think (1.35), Aupcharlie (2.10), Un Atout (2.45), Tennis Cap (3.20) and Super Mix (4.20)
Kempton Park – Cimaxfortackle (1.45), Toga Tiger (2.20), Fluctuate and Greylami e/w (2.55), Gertrude Versed (4.05), Brandywell Boy e/w (4.35) and Jonnie Skull e/w (5.05)
